Thinking about doing a DIY, any advice?

Jan 27, 2017 - 2:04 AM - by JerryLtowIt
JerryLtowIt's Avatar The coolant temp sensor housing on my Mkv Gli has a hairline crack in it. Anything I should be prepared for? I've seen a few threads on and about the sensor itself, but not the housing. It looks pretty straight forward, though the location is not my favorite. 😬

You can barley see fluid seeping. I can't think of how that could've happened.

A noob here...

Dec 05, 2016 - 11:46 PM - by JerryLtowIt
JerryLtowIt's Avatar Just wanted to check in and say hello! I purchased my 07 Gli about four months ago from a tow yard I worked at. Someone's bad luck turned out in my favor. I practically stole it for the $1500 I paid. Very clean, inside and out, and I'm finding out the previous owner must've been a Jetta Junkie as well. There are lots of mods this guy did, and probably one of the reasons it was impounded. I'll be posting here and there, anxious to get to know this wonderful car! It's pretty fast.

New

Feb 27, 2017 - 11:45 PM - by Fully Spooled
I'm not entirely stupid but I'm definitely no master mechanic and I recently bought a 2014 Jetta SE 1.8tsi and I've been looking for a few easier mods to get used to the car. I've researched a bit into it all and my initial thought has been a dv of some sort. Any recommendations / instructions on what to get and how to properly install?

Spongy Brake Pedal

Feb 27, 2017 - 12:50 AM - by 95franklin
Hi all,

I'm having a tough time figuring out the source of my spongy/soft brake pedal. I changed the rear pads/rotors recently after letting the pads wear down a bit too much. Pedal was soft after the change, so I bled the brakes using the two-person method. It didn't seem to make a difference. Thinking I may have ran the master cylinder down too low, I removed it to bench bleed it. After installing the newly bled MC, I have zero brakes.

A few notes:

TDI Buy Back, my run through at the dealer...

Feb 25, 2017 - 4:47 PM - by PowerslavePA
PowerslavePA's Avatar Went to the dealer today and see what I would have to do for a buy back.

They only have a 2015 Jetta 1.8TSI Sport, which still doesn't do it for me with the slushbox
transmission. 170HP, and 184lb-ft torque, but without a DSG, it doesn't get to the ground.
Does not accelerate like my TDI does.

So, anyhow, this is how it works:

You take yours in, RUNNING, and they put you in another car, while yours sits there
as they wait for the buy... [Read More]

Rusted out rocker?

Feb 23, 2017 - 2:33 PM - by JakeM35
JakeM35's Avatar Alright guys I'm honestly stumped. My 02 Wagons passenger side rocker is starting to rot out. Now from what I'm seeing when I search through ETKA (vw parts database) you can't just purchase a rocker separate. I want to get this fixed but I'm not sure how to go about it. Any advice?
