Thinking about doing a DIY, any advice?

Jan 27, 2017 - 1:04 AM - by JerryLtowIt
JerryLtowIt's Avatar The coolant temp sensor housing on my Mkv Gli has a hairline crack in it. Anything I should be prepared for? I've seen a few threads on and about the sensor itself, but not the housing. It looks pretty straight forward, though the location is not my favorite. 😬

You can barley see fluid seeping. I can't think of how that could've happened.

A noob here...

Dec 05, 2016 - 10:46 PM - by JerryLtowIt
JerryLtowIt's Avatar Just wanted to check in and say hello! I purchased my 07 Gli about four months ago from a tow yard I worked at. Someone's bad luck turned out in my favor. I practically stole it for the $1500 I paid. Very clean, inside and out, and I'm finding out the previous owner must've been a Jetta Junkie as well. There are lots of mods this guy did, and probably one of the reasons it was impounded. I'll be posting here and there, anxious to get to know this wonderful car! It's pretty fast.

manual transmission needs an extra gear

Jun 26, 2017 - 5:50 AM - by LeftyAL
I have had my 2004 2.0 l for about 6 months now. Runs good and looks great.Although I never use the interstate ,I find that 5th gear is not high enough .Seems like another gear would make it a great cruising car.I would never change the transmission ,but I wonder why VW would not have made it standard .Driving over 60 mph You hear the motor.

Jun 24, 2017 - 9:23 AM - by LeftyAL
This is a question about the clutch in these things. I have no problem with mine. Are the clutches and transmissions reliable.Years ago we would adjust the clutch pedal , I never hear anyone talk about this anymore. Are they self adjusting?

Timing Belt and Water Pump

Jun 23, 2017 - 10:08 PM - by Swerve
Swerve's Avatar I have recently found that my car is leaving large pools of fluid on the ground after running. I can drive with the car at normal temp but once I stop at lights the car starts to over heat and dump fluid. I have been looking everywhere to find out what the average cost of these repairs are and what exactly the problem could be. I don't want to spend an arm and a leg but I know it needs repaired.
I did find something that showed the water pump having play in it, could this cause my car... [Read More]

Car Audio/Power Needs

Jun 20, 2017 - 11:29 PM - by Carbro726
Carbro726's Avatar Alright guys,

So today I bought a pair of 8 inch subwoofers for my Jetta. They're some random brand so I can't tell you much about them other than they say "Nitro Bass" on them, are 8 inches each, and both take 1800 watts, 3600 watts in total. And I got them for $50, so quite the deal if you ask me. Yes they do work fine btw.

Anyways, this is what I'm getting at: these use 3600 watts, and obviously I'm gonna get an amp the equivalent to that. The amp isn't my... [Read More]

headliner sag.

Jun 17, 2017 - 10:53 AM - by LeftyAL
My headliner is sagging just in a few spots. When push the liner back up to the ceiling ,it sticks for a few seconds then falls again.I was thinking of using an iron set on a low setting to just see if it will get the glue to work again.BAD idea? What do you think?
