2000 VW Jetta Temperature Gauge starts to drop only when i drive in cold weather ??

Rate this Entry
I have a 2000 VW Jetta and I can let the car Idle and the temperature gauge will go to the normal but yeah sorta slow than any other car ive owned it seems. As soon as I start driving down the road my temperature gauge starts dropping sort of like cold air is cooling it down. Im not sure what could be wrong with it. Has anyone ever had this happen before ?

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A STICKY THERMOSTAT - GET IT CHECKED OUT OR REPLACE IT WITH A ORIGINAL ONE

Yeah its the thermostat, this happened to me this winter, it is a little bit of a pain to get to because you have to remove the throttle body and alternator. when you do change the thermostat, make sure to have some extra coolant on hand good luck!

Yes, it is the thermostat. If you do a DYI removal, be careful of scratching the engine block when removing the old thermostat, as it can be difficult to remove.
