I searched here... cant find what i need. everyone talks about vag-com ports which i dont get how i could use an obd2 on it? If i had the vag-com what kind of obd2 scanner would work?
What jumpers to i link to get a flashing CEL so i can figure out why my jetta died tonite and wont start now.
well if you have the obd1 setup then u cant use the obd2 scanner..well you can but you need the adapter with the twin 2 plug sockets...you can just buy the cable and use the free software off the ross tech site or i can send you mine with the obd1 adapters for 30$...check if you have the ports when you take off ur shift boot(im pretty sure thats where it is)
How would that vag-com port work on the late model obd1? I just spent 15 minutes trying the jumper trick.. the CEL comes on and then jsut goes away. will not flash codes at me!?
I live in falmouth... i work in hyannis though, so its a small world..haha.
yeah jumper doesnt work with 95's lol..you have the 16 pin one right? well the obd2 connecter fits, it doesnt look like it does, but it does. I had this problem for a while, then connected a vagcom cable and it worked.
I didn't see anything on the ebay link about Windows. Any idea if this will work with Windows vista/7? I had purchased a little netbook a year ago for vag-com but never got around to using it. Also, is vag-com mainly a code clearing/ecu changing device? Or does it monitor the system as well? Sorry to thread-jack a little.
yeah it works with win 7/shista...well depends what program u can get ur hands on..can do pretty much anything
