Hello everyone!

I wanted to get opinions on different MK3 owners/repair men on transmission fluid replacement. I called my local VW dealership to find out a price range on this type of maintenance (which comes out to be around 600 bucks in total). The Rep. warned me that High Mileage VW cars are not recommended to change/replace fluids because there is a chance of transmission "slip" happening afterward...
Has anyone done a fluid replacement without any problems? any places that is recommended in NY (Preferable in Queens or near by boroughs) by you fine people?
I am somewhat handy with Jetta's ... I just might not have the time to do it because of work. If the price is still around the 600's, i might as well take 2 good days off and just do it because my acceleration "hesitates" and i beleive the transmission fluid is the culprit (or atleast i might as well try that first).

If you have any informative links that is "DIY," I would appreciate it!
Thanks my fella Junkies!

id suggest you buyin the fluids from the dealership or even go to local car parts store and find a compatible/similar automatic tranny fluid, just do the work your self if your mechanically inclined. dont forget to buy the tranny gasket and the filter while your at it. good luck

**UPDATE**

I did the whole change today... I must say it was the best investment i have done (worth the time and patience).
I got excited when i received my package with the Blauparts ATF Kit. I printed out an extra DIY instructions along with my VW Manual and instructions from Blauparts (every kit comes with instructions, awesome). It took me about 2.5 hours since i have never done it before, similar to changing motor oil except need a good level base for proper drainage. Anyway, once i was done with the ATF replacement. Girlfriend took me for a ride on the jetta to see if there was any difference...I have never felt our jetta ride so smoothly (wow). There was actually less noise during idling and while driving coming from the Auto transmission. No "hesitation/slips" going uphill or on the beginning of quick acceleration from a green light. Extremely happy that i saved money in my pocket. My next kit will be the Timing Belt replacement which is $110 bucks and it comes with new water pump and pulleys (WHAT!). Need to pick which day i have off...

congrats on the hard work of being a grease monkey for that matter :). timing belt is some what cruicial so becareful on doing that your self. if you decide to do that, make sure everything is aligned such as timing marks, and make sure to remember all the things removed and put back the right way. hats off to you and good luck on the next mission.

I never had an automatic vehicle through my whole life, im used to just changing tranny gear fluid on manuals.
