Re: 03 MKIV Stage 1 Questions

You could also look into water/meth injection or a more budget would be to get an extra windshield washer reservoir and have the nozzle spray onto the intercooler, which would cool it down when ever...

Re: 03 MKIV Stage 1 Questions

You'll most likely experience it in summer if you have hot summers and you're constantly doing pulls.

I remember reading awhile back that people were upgrading their SMIC with the one from ebay.

    Re: abs problems

Did you check the wiring to each wheel?

Have the ABS scanned for codes and see what comes up.

Just to add to the list. Urotuning is one I have been frequenting lately.

If you want OEM, you can also check Rockauto.

  7. Re: MKIV Replacing struts, Strut mount bushing, bearing, etc......advice needed

The top strut mount nut requires a special tool to remove it, but what I did was zip it off with an impact gun. I did the same when reinstalling, but did it on the lowest setting and didn't torque...
  8. Re: 2005 Jetta - Headlight Chime, Seat Belt Chime and Turn signal Chime do not work

    Here's a DIY.

All the part numbers I could find, didn't seem like the right ones. Your best bet is to contact your local VW Dealership and get...
  9. Re: 2005 Jetta - Headlight Chime, Seat Belt Chime and Turn signal Chime do not work

A few things come to mind and It's either the previous owner programmed it out with VCDS or the speaker has gone bad or previous owner cut the wires to the speaker.

From my research, it looks like...

Re: New water pump, coolant not circulating.

If it's not overheating, then it sounds like it's working properly. The thermostat should open around 195F, take her for drive in the city and then check the bottom hose to see if it opens up....
  11. Re: 2005 Jetta - Headlight Chime, Seat Belt Chime and Turn signal Chime do not work

I would think the light should still turn on for the doors and the chime should still work if the bulb is burnt out. My guess is the microswitch in the door has gone bad. Try opening the other doors...
  12. Re: 2005 Jetta - Headlight Chime, Seat Belt Chime and Turn signal Chime do not work

When you open your driver door, does the door open light turn on in the dash?

Here's a link to help locate the speaker. Looks like it's built into the instrument cluster.

Re: help with tiptronic trans issue

Nope, you install them and drive like you normally do. Just make sure to get them from here and not ebay.
  15. Re: Help identify this hose......and fluid leak

Feel and smell the fluid. The only 2 things that come to mind, is the transmission fluid and coolant.

    I can't answer the question with the hose, since I don't own a VR6.

Re: help with tiptronic trans issue

How many miles are on the Jetta? Still on the factory solenoids?

My guess would be the solenoids. Sometimes they'll give you a warning signs ahead of time. Did it only start doing this when it's...

It would be a good idea to get an alignment recheck after messing with your suspension.

    Re: Another suspension question

Depending on your budget. Racelands is the budget for coilovers. If you're only going for a 1/2 to 3/4 inch drop, IMO I think you'll be fine with the stock struts and shocks. If you decide to go any...

    Re: humming above electric fan

That's the Auxiliary Water Pump. It will usually run for about 10 minutes after you turn the vehicle off. It runs coolant to the turbo to cool it down.

If it runs all night and you have a dead...
  22. Re: 04 Jetta 1.8t thinks it's an automatic? + other issues....HELP!

Definitely sounds like an auto to manual conversion.

ABS light will be on due to one of the sensors being dirty, damaged wires, or a sensor needing to be replaced. Get a hold of a VAG scanner and...

Re: NEW to VW Jetta please help

I agree with above. The tech most likely didn't reset the maintenance light. If you're going off of their intervals with the sticker on the window, then it probably wasn't on when it was taken in....

    Re: vacuum hoses

It's cheaper to just go to ace hardware, lowes, home depot, etc.. and get about 8 feet and replace each one at a time and cutting them to the desired length. You'll probly spend about $5.
