Re: 1.8t not running with full power..

Here's another one that is a bit easier to read through.

Re: 1.8t not running with full power..

When you upgrade to the 2.0 coils, you need to gap the plugs to .040

Some even reported running .041 and .042 and still ran good.

Here's a huge discussion on it if you're unsure.

What performance rated ignition coils did you install? The 2.0 coils?

Re: 1.8t not running with full power..

Did you gap the spark plugs to .028?

When you get tuned, you need to bring it down to .028 and we usually run the one step colder spark plug BKR7E.

Re: Replaced Injectors now the idle.

If it started after replacing the injectors, then it should be back to normal if everything else is connected properly.

Re: Replaced Injectors now the idle.

You'll need to contact Motoza and have them adjust your tune for the injectors. Unless you have a major vacuum leak causing the RPMS to fluctuate.

If you bought these, then they're 550cc.

    Re: FMIC

That first link to Ebay is the same exact one I posted above and does require welding. MK4 1.8t's have a MAP sensor mounted to the SMIC, so when you upgrade to the FMIC where do you think that MAP...

    Re: N249, N75 and SAi

SAI - Secondary Air Injection is for emissions. It heats up the cat on startup to reduce carbons.
N75 controls the Wastegate for boost. Usually people don't delete this, unless they've upgraded to...

    Re: FMIC

That's not fully true about not having to cut or weld anything. Some EBay SMIC do come with the MAP sensor adapter already welded on, some you do have to cut the hole and weld the adapter.

    This...

    Re: Battery dash light?

That should be a positive wire. Pull the plastic cap off and it should be bolted to the alternator.

I would go to an auto parts store and have them do the free electrical test. This should tell...
  12. Re: 2003 Jetta 1.8L Turbo 5 speed manual Wolfsburg won't move in any gear

I would start over. Lift it up, put it on jack stands. Remove the 3 bolts to control arm. Tie rod and sway bar if necessary for more clearance. Remove the 6 triple square bolts and reinspect the CV...

    Re: FMIC

    I'm assuming it's the 1.8t.

Is it an automatic or manual?
    What mods have you done?

Budget would be Ebay. Performance wise, Eurojet or CTS would be the route to go.
    Depending on the mods you...

Re: MK4 Jetta Only Making 5 PSI no CEL

It sounds like it's running good, except for the first 5 minutes. If it's bothering you, I would start with a boost leak test.

Re: MK4 Jetta Only Making 5 PSI no CEL

When you say it peaks 12, do you mean spiking to 12 and settling at a lower number or actually holding 12 psi?
Do you know which turbo you have? K03 or K03s?
When you get 5-7 psi is the vehicle...

    Re: Boost help

You should install a boost gauge and see what it's doing. That's too vague of a description, but if I had to go off of that. I'd say a boost leak.

What exactly happens when it stalls?

Re: MK4 Jetta Only Making 5 PSI no CEL

Oh ok. Yeah, you could replace the wires going to the ECU. Either pull it from the plug and reinsert a new one if you're capable. If not, cut it where you think it needs to start and solder in some...

Re: MK4 Jetta Only Making 5 PSI no CEL

The MAF should have a plug going to it. Just unplug it, plug the new one in and clamp it back to the intake.

Unless the previous owner has tampered with it?

If you have an O'Reillys or autozone nearby, you should be able to rent it from them. You just put down a deposit and return it when you're done.

Re: MK4 Jetta Only Making 5 PSI no CEL

Sounds like you're on the right track. Since the MAF needs to be replaced, get a new one and see if it fixes the issue.

If not, I would test the wastegate with a vacuum pump and see if it holds...

Re: to convert or not to covert

    Is this on a 1.8t?

If so and you plan on modifying it. You should swap the transmission for the 6 speed. I've read the 5 speed can't handle the performance.
