Unhappy HID conversion.....daytime running lights on a 2000???

So I just pickup a HID 8000k conversion for my 2000 TDI jetta.....I have one question....

I have been told with the daytime running lights where the lights are on as long as the car is on and you only turn the light switch on to get your dash lights will burn out the bulbs faster?

I have heard I could run them but I must turn on lights before starting the car....
Is there a way to by pass the Daytime runnig lights or is everything going to be okay and just plug and play
Can anyone shine some light on my problems......

http://jettajunkie.com/vw-jetta/showthread.php/day-time-running-lamps-4934.html?t=4934&highlight=headlights

so this tread shows me how disable the DRL. So now with it disabled I just turn the headlight switch to turn on dash lights and HIDs will come on?

your HID conversion, what exactly does it contain? is it just bulbs or is it ballasts and plugs etc.?

just checking because i thought it would be a good idea to just throw xenon bulbs in my car, and ended up melting my plugs, turns out my bulbs are too hot. Since you got ballasts and plugs and bulbs you won't have any problems.

I got the HID in today. Frick are these things AWESOME!!!!!

but one question.....my HID buld that are replacing the stock ones have two buld looking things. When I turn the lights on I get these lights that are white NOT blue and are not really bright. I couldnt figure it out for the life of me.....UNTIL I turn on the high beams. Thats where the brightness and blue come on. Is this normal to have to push on high beam switch to make HID come on??

Not sure what I got? doesnt say anything about bi level hids. All i know is there are 2 light fillaments(2 bulbs). one of them.....when turn on lights it comes on, not to bright and just normal color. Second only comes on when I turn high beams on, and these are the HIDs, bright as hell and off blue......

what you guys figure? run high beams all the time......
should i connect the daytime running lights again and see what happens?

the daylight running lights should not make a difference. if you got the recommended replacement for our lights 9007 they should be bi level which is why you have 2 levels of brightness ( low beam, high beam).

if they low beam isn't bright enough i guess you could run high beams all the time but i don't know how cops are around you they may give you a hard time about that.

hope that helps

ya, just gonna sport high beam.

Its weird cause when I turn the high beams on they do a quick flicker and then I watch them get briter and change colors. But on the regular lights they just turn on like normal lights. Just thought it was weird to have to turn high beams on to get the conversion to run.....

Always hated people who drive around with their high beams on. They don't care about blinding other people as long as they got plenty of light for themselves. Selfish IMO...
