Hey guys, My wife has a 03 1.8t jetta (automatic) that we've had for about 5 years. Im about to inherit it when she gets a new ride, but it has a problem that I have not been able to figure out.

On cold starts, or after the car has been sitting for more than say 5 hours, it will stumble and stall unless its given at least a solid minute or two minutes to idle.

It has 103000 miles, and the coils were just replaced.

As a side note, in the morning, once started it makes a really loud noise for the first minute or two, sounds almost like a bad exhaust leak. After it warms up the noise goes away and does not return.

Any help or links are greatly appreciated.
