Hello, from another new Jetta owner, and forum member.
The only suggestion I'd make would be for the addition of a general troubleshooting section. One that's broken up into engine, driveline, electrical, cooling, etc..

Parts and electrical schematics would be nice as well.

Never knew the Jetta was such a popular car.

You will get better solutions for all your queries in the service manual along with the schematics. You get it downloaded online or contact your dealer. That will be a better and perfect solution for the problems.

Unfortunately, finding the service manual online (and free) is a lot like tracking down El Dorado - links are either dead or pointing to pay sites. You would've thought with so many MK3 Jetta owners, SOMEONE would've uploaded the Bently manual by now without having us all jump through hoops.

heres a chip install should be enough for you to get yourself plugged in with a new ecu.

Hey there guys...Just got my first jetta, a 96 trek edition...I needed a car b/c my first born is almost home and my '87 1k huricane won't carry a car seat!!!!!Why the jetta? Well, I traded a sandrail for it...It has a rebuilt engine, a/c works nicely anx it runs pretty good...I'm thinking of doing some nice things to it like a tranny swap, 16v conversion, or a vr swap with manual tranny...Was actually wonderin what would be fastest to complete? I'm very mechanically inclined and have access to the shop I work with...Thanks and hope to be enjoying the site more...:-)

Hey guys great site. I love how VDubbers come together. I'm looking for a jetta mk3 roller chassis want a vr6 but anything will do. I'm hoping for something in Tx. With a title. Also looking for a 1997 vr6 wire harness, if there are no differences between mk3s hit me up please. This is not my first rodeo I have had vdubs before and there is no comparison between any other cars in their class. Thanks a lot fellow jetta junkies. Feel free to email me any answers at pyroone25@gmail.com.

A lot of firsts for me.
This is the first car I have ever owned outright, my first vw also.

It's a tad beat up, but plenty of potential.

hi everyone, I'm new to the site and I have a short story. I just bought a Mk III Jetta and shortly after registering it with DMV, I was driving around the block in Portland, OR when the motor started to stumble and ultimately died. I was able to get it to a safe spot on the shoulder and eventually the friend I bought it from drove in with his tow truck and towed me 70 miles or so to his place in Washington. It starts and idles fine, the trouble starts when the accelerator is depressed too quickly. A passerby said he could smell fuel when I was experiencing the trouble and trying to get it to a safe place to park. I'll be searching the forums and any help will be greatly appreciated. Off the top, we're thinking fuel filter or fuel pump. Thank you in advance, Eric edit: sorry it looks like this belongs under a different thread
