    Default No Reverse

Hello guys I have a 97 MK3 with a manual trans. The problem is that it wont stay in reverse now. I put it in reverse and it pops out. If I try to hold it into reverse it makes some scary noises . Is my reverse gone or is it a linkage issue not allowing it to engage properly? I know the trans issues are common with these years but i thought it was primarily the automatics. Thanks for an info

It sounds like you def blew reverse.... but could be linkage... it is common in jettas and older golfs.... a lot of them will make a rapping noise when you move in reverse... like mine but.... it helps if your going to use reverse shift it into 1st, first...

but i'd get it checked out at a local garage...
