Thread: Bad service

    Default Bad service

I have an 2011 Jetta SEL, trying to get service on a Saturday to have them look at my trunk lid. I get the run around from EVERY dealer in the Atlanta area. They claim they do no have the crew on a Saturday to look at my jetta. I am very disgusted at the quality of service from VW and to know not every customer can come during the week. Not to mention the nearest VW dealer is 2 hours away! This is really a turn off from getting another VW in the future from bad service! I use to drive a Scion and had Awesome service anytime! Anyone else had a bad experience trying to get service on a Saturday?

The dealer is the only place that can fix this issue!

I assume you mean due to your warranty? They don't have private shops around you with warranty standards? pretty sure even a normal shop can do work on warrantied cars as long as there properly licensed to do so..

also, I work midnights 6 days a week (62 hours this week, on a 12h shift as we speak), and even including my 5h of sleep a day (you can check that with my iPhone's 'Sleep cycle alarm clock' app) and 2.5h worth of commuting I can still manage to get my running around done. Sometimes you gotta suck it up and lose a few hours of sleep and go by other peoples schedules... way of the world

you need to watch your comments on this forum. Second time ive had to tell you that.

OP dealers are notoriously terrible in the VW community. Really most communities. Some will have better hours of operations but overall most charge x2-3 for work so most of us here on the forum direct users away from dealers. Do you have a warranty on the car? Is that why the dealer is the only one because i promise you there are plenty of service techs who know how to fix damn near everything on cars if youve got great shops. Can you describe your issue?

The rudeness right here is 100% uncalled for, and I know a little bit about being rude. Watch the 'tude.

I have called all the dealers in the atlanta area. They just claim they don't have the techs working on Saturday and can only do oil changes. I just don't understand that. Saturdays is the only day many people can get their car to a shop. If I had to do it during the week, I would have to take a day off work, not considering, I'd have to leave it and come back. I would just assume, VW would have 100% service available at least until 12 noon on Saturday. My car is under warranty too! I even tried to make a schedule a month in advance and no hope. I'm stuck with a truck lid that is not fitted correctly! I was always told that you take your car to a dealer because if service is done to a car under warranty and it's done by someone else, it can void the warranty.

My euro shop doesn't work on weekends at all. Although I remember when my car was still on warranty I had a scheduled appointment on Saturday for some minor electrical work done. Well props to The Autobarn VW in Evanston, IL.

Yeah none of the small shops are open and none of the dealers are to do work either. The parts department at the VW dealer is open until noon on saturday's but they don't have any mechanics in.

people gotta remember that servicemen/women and mechanics are people too, they work hard (mechanics are regularily covered in grease and oil, crammed into confined spaces and jsut have to deal with stupidity on a regular basis, they want there weekends too.. it's not practical to hire a few part timers for weekends or force the regulars to do 48+ hours just to fix stuff that they can fix. also other than dealerships and some franchises, most mechanics are privately owned, and have families and stuff.

and no offense but i really think having to take a whole day off is an exaggeration; you can't get a ride for one day or wake up early or go to bed a few hours later, once a few months
you should get a job at a mcdicks within walking distance

also i could be wrong, but with proper licensing, a a non dealer shop would not void a warranty working on your car

sorry about the rudeness i just have issues with people that complain and don't understand things like this. i am a angry person. but anyways my step dads a car sales man and i know his service department isn't open on weekends because my cars there for my own stupidity. as long as they're a licensed mechanic and hold the proper accreditation it doesn't matter much where you take it. of course its always better to take it to a place that specialize in the car brand but honestly with my vw dealer around here... id never go back its full of idiots my step dad works for a nissan dealer and that's where i usually end up taking it never had issues with their fixs always had some with the vws tho so idk. maybe its a vw thing here in the states. most dealerships offer temp cars... i know 80% of them here do for situations like this. i doubt re fitting your trunk would take all day either but then it might take more if its broken and they have to order the part anyways.

It's not about taking a day off, it's about a dealer having mechanics to work on cars on a Saturday! Why do dealers lie when you buy a car about having service Monday thru Saturday if you have any issues?!? And why should I take a day off of work to have a car worked on, drive 2 hours to the nearest dealer during my work week? All I am saying is VW should have mechanics available on a Saturday. It's about convienance! I have called the VW corporation and they are looking into the matter and they are to call me back this week. Some things just need to be changed if VW wants to be the leader of selling the most cars as they announced earlier this year!

Idk seems like other places I've been are alot more into helping and cheaper then VW dealers are but we have a good one here about a hour a way the one I bought mine from tho are idiots. And bout time you learned this... most car salesman are liars and will say w.e. to get you to sign that contract that's how that business works

Typical snoody customer, op. Its a saturday, as like you most techs have the day off also. Would you rather have a qualified mechanic work on your car or a lube tech who just happens to be there that day?? Not every tech at the dealership or any shop for that matter are all at the same level.
