Default Speedometer&tac quit working. Came back on, then quit again. Any ideas? 95JettaIII

Speedometer and tacometer quit working, then came back on again, then quit. Gas guage went a little wonky as well... Will no longer display full tank... ONly goes 3/4 the way up. Horn also quit working, but I think that's a separate issue... Happened before the hud display issues. Also, my rear-window brake light is stuck ON without brakes depressed. THis is my first Jetta, and it's been an electrical nightmare since I've owned it. Issues I'm experiencing might be related to the electrical meltdown/short that occured when I visited family in Canada... Attempted to cross border, got a random inspection... Long story short, Canada thought I was smuggling something and rummaged around up under the driver-side dash and the passenger-side airbag area resulting in damaged headlights, turn signal lights, stereo, horn, and rear-window brake light. I had nothing on me, and they let me go, but the Jetta was a mess after that.
Any ideas about the hud display rear-window brake light issue, and/or horn issue?
    Gratitude!

I've had this problem since I got my gli. Still haven't figured it out. Check your speed sensors. Vag com scan would probably help.

Im new to this place but, check the connection in the back of the cluster. Wiggle it a bit and see if it goes out and comes back on. If it does its either the connector itself where the wires are or in the cluster with broken solder joints. solder joints. Does your gas gauge go up or down when you stop and go?

Also here is a picture when the cluster is taken apart, its behind the cluster faceplates circled in red

    Good luck!

Hmmm the gas gauge part is something I never really considered. When I accelerate and turn it always drops to empty and goes back up when I am going steady.

I would suggest taking a look at your cluster, they arnt supposed to float. When i first got my mk3 my cluster would work randomly. Then when it would work the gas gauge floated. But thats a indication you have a bad connection in the cluster, Either in the solder joints or one of the pins in the connection to the cluster is pushed out. Before i fixed mine I got a cluster from a buddy who had a 2.0 golf, I used that for a while then it started to do the same thing, in the meanwhile i had mine all apart and decided to solder them. I ended up fixing both, But im gonna be putting mk4 needles and led's in my old one
