Just got a jetta and am curious as to what mods i should do to improve performance/aesthetics. Just bought a new 3 inch magnaflow turbo back exhaust. Car is at 100k miles. What next?
take the exhaust back, it doesn't create enough back pressure and you'll loose about 15hp, also there isn't really any other mod you could do to the engine it's already pretty maxed out
On the 1.8t opening the exhaust up from the stock 2inch downpipe to three inch is the best improvement you can do besides having it chipped. As far as back pressure the Turbo provides the needed back pressure. If it were a vr Skimmer would b correct
I know everyone [other than me] in the VAG scene loves bags and coilovers, but I would suggest sport struts. Not many people care [or know] how much damage is done by lowering a car as much as some of these guys do. You change the whole geometry of the car's suspension [cast/camber, improper tire wear and wheel bearing issues to follow]. Depending on the look you're trying to achieve, try Bilstein Sports and wheels with the off center that you desire best; or get wheel spacers. The A4 Jetta has lots of body roll and suspension slop; I would start there and get 'er tightened up. Cheers!
