So just bought aa stick 95 jetta to with the 2.0 motor, said it needed aa crank shaft positioning sensor, swapped it out, didn't fix it. The car has a hard time starting, and when I do get it going it won't rev past 3k rpms, I'm getting to like 52 mph by the time it maxes out 5th. I'm a weekend warrior at best, and at this point I can't even drive it long enough to cycle the sensors, any ideas would be appreciated, this is my first vw, and the first car I don't want to pay my mechanic to fix.
Disconnect the cat and see how it runs....if it still runs like crap (but louder) start by verifying the cam, crank timing marks and dist. position are correct.
