    Default remote start help needed

My daughter has an 02 Jetta 1.8T automatic. Tried getting a remote start installed. Most places I tried said they will not do VW`s. So looks like I will be doing it my self . My plan is to use a viper 3305V and a 556UW bypass. Can any one advise me if there is a better way to do this ? and if so what would you suggest ? Also any one know what problems I'm likely to run into ? she wants this for Christmas so any help before I order parts would be appreciated .

Here is someone who put in a Python:

Lot a work, which is probably why no one will do it.

that wiring diagram I'm sure will be worth its weight in gold . thank you so much . but I get lost when it comes to the PAC Immo Adapter . I have read the write up the guy did on his python install. but he used a 556uw . people say those do not work well on vw`s and the new way to do it is with the PAC. but I am also told it has to be programed by some one licensed to install them and has the computer to talk to the car. If I buy that pac unit can I program it my self some how ? or could you help me understand how to use it ?

BTW her Jetta already has a factory alarm. And I'm not looking to add a lot of bells and whistles. All I want to add is remote start and keyless entry so some how I think I need to tie into the existing alarm .

could any one tell me what 2 wires on the viper 5303 alarm I use to tie into the existing factory alarm and where on the car they are ?

You don't have an install manual for the Viper? You'll have to go to their web site
and see if you can find it, or search Yahoo or Google for it. If you mean CAR
side, there aren't any. It's all immobilizer.

alright guys, let's calm it down, keep it on topic or its gonna get locked up, Powerslave you do come off as arrogant at times, let's just cool it down and help a guy out trying to do a remote start install

OP I'm gonna tell you to proceed with caution, I'm currently watching a remote start horror story in the shop it's a different model but it's a remote start horror story

I agree. Im trying hard to be daddy of the year by getting this thing in before Christmas. I have it all installed . every thing I wanted to work does. IE lock unlock, remote start, but for some reason I can start it several times no problem . then try it one more time and the stater doesn't disengage and I have to hit the brake to stop it . but with all the hassle in here I don't think its worth asking.

Not my fault people can't read... Do arrogant people actually take the time to
read the posts to get a grip? No, the ARROGANT people don't read, and repeat
what others have already done. THAT, is arrogance... Or, if you want to call
them morons, whichever works, as either one works for me...

The starter not disengaging after several uses, has to be a logic issue, or a latched
relay. If it were hooked up wrong, it would do it all the time. Make sure the TAC wire
has a solid connection. Vibrations can momentarily break contact with the wire if
not secured. Solder your "Y"ed off wire to the tac signal wire, and to a female spade
connector, then use a hooded male connector to prevent shorts to ground
with vibrations, and what have you.

I believe there is also an option to start without a TAC wire, by setting a crank time
to from 1 -4 seconds. Carburetor engines need longer crank times, FI does not. Like,
with my 2006 HHR, I can nudge it to start, and immediately let go, the engine continues
to crank till started, and the key is in RUN while it's cranking, pretty neat.

So, a 1-second crank time would be all I need. So, if all fails try forgoing the TAC wire,
and use the timed crank option. If that still gives you the same problem, contact VIPER
support, they do go bad and have intermittent issues. I have seen it personally. The
only units I installed were Viper.
