Default My Bora TDI on 19" LM reps

My bora tdi and its progress

I got it last May so here goes, Its a 1.9 Tdi SE 115ps, remapped to 135ps just now.

    When I first bought it

July 09 Coilovers, rear lights, pressed plates and my 18's fitted

    December 09 New headlights

    January 10 - Got my 18's powdercoated

2 days after fitting my wheels back on the whole of my car got keyed so had to fork out for that. Sold the 18's and picked up a second hand set of LM reps which where in need of a refurb.

    Wheels when I got them

Anyway I refurbed the wheels myself and here is how they turned out on and on the car.. Also fited some standard rear lights and makes the car look loads better.

I have spaced the wheels out so now are ET32 up front and ET25 at the rear, needing to get myself some 215's as the tyres that are on it are far to wide (235's) and is rubbing a bit.

Here is a few quick pics after the car had settled.

Well picked up the paint 2 weeks ago and started prepping the lower spoiler of the back bumper. I haven't bothered rubbing it down as I am eventually going to get the bumper smoothed. I'm quite happy with the results even for my first time painting something that big and using aerosols.

Also had a wee bit of paint left so done my engine cover. Not same colour as car as I originally painted it black, I just gave it a quick rub down then painted on top then laquered it. Looks quite good I think.

    Few quick pics

Well the one thing that I don't like about my headlights is the strip light above the angel eyes. When I first got the lights one was completely damaged with the brackets all snapped etc but the other one was fine. The place I got them from sent me 2 new ones but didn't request the old ones back.

Anyway I stripped the good one down today and my plan was to paint the strip light matt black to go with the rest of the unit. After about half an hour to an hour of using a hairdryer to heat the glue the lense was seperated from the unit and looked like this.

Then I finished stripping them down and you can see the strip light above the angel eyes more clearly now. looks rubbish

The lense for the strip light comes off so made it much easier for painting rather than having to paint the whole unit and here is it back on the light

And a final pic of the unit all built back up again. Looks so much better

Now just need to get the other light off the car and do the same and replace the other one with this one. Will be getting chrome indicator bulbs for them to.

    Comments welcome good or bad

    Cheers

    John

    Welcome to the forum.

You car is clean. That sucks about the thing getting keyed though. Those orange wheels were an awesome contrast to the blue on your car. Would you mind shedding some light on how you refurbished the wheels? Mine are kind of rough like those second hand wheels you picked up and I would like to refurbish them and coat them a different color.

I have to be honest this is the first BORA TDI I've seen. You are in GB so I guess anything is possible. That is pretty cool and I'm really diggin' the Recaro seats throughout the car. Dang I wish I had that in my MK3.

Best of luck on that second headlight. You were right about that light strip. At first I thought it was a nice touch but looking at it closer it really wasn't that great.

    Cheers for the comments guys.

If there is not a thread on refurbing wheels then I can put up what I done with mines, I also have pictures to help out with this. They are not 100% but they will do me for just now.

I will be refurbing my winters shortly but not to sure on what I'm doing with them yet.

The interior is originally out of a 1.8T Golf and was in the car when I bought it, not to sure if it is the same over in the US though.

My next task is building a custom I.C.E install in the boot which I will be doing myself, and taking pictures etc of how I am doing it.

As in its not as low as the rest of the kit?

It was like that when I bought the car. If I had a spare £400 I would get the Votex one but I don't and thats the only aftermarket bumper I like. I also like the GLI lower bumper spoiler but can't source one in the UK which sucks as they are sweeeeet.

Not to sure as I bought them second hand. But they I think they are the ones that you get on BMAutosport. Have been trying to get emblems for them and was told about this place and they look pretty identical to my ones.

Wish I could help more but try there, might get something.

Started my install the other day seeing as I had 2 days off and the weather was decent.

I don't have a work in progress of building the boxes but here you can see the first sub box sitting in place, this was the easiest one out of the 2 to do as the other one had annoying little shapes to be made out of it.

Other side with sub in place.

Both subs in there boxes and sitting in place, here you can see the drivers side is needing pushed in more at the top compared to the other side. I put temporary support bars in to stop it sliding about until I done the carpet.

Here is some pics of my install complete. Just waiting on some LEDs coming to brighten it up.

    Cheers

Been a while since I updated this. Well I have got myself some tinted rear lights and side repeater's and chrome indicator bulbs all round, got an FK ARB and also some adjustable drop links for the car since last time. some pics

Once the car had settled properly I was still having issues with driveshaft knocking. I though it was the ARB again but once I got the car in the air we found out that it was infact the chassis the driveshaft was knocking off. So have raised it back up 10mm until I can be bothered with the chassis notch. I'm actually considering leaving the ride height as it is and just getting some bigger spacers all round.

    Cheers
