Factory radio removal

my 02' jetta has a cd and cassette player from the factory. i need to know how to take it out and put an aftermarket head unit. im not payin $80 for the shop to do it. i just need to know how the pieces come out and im sure i can figure out how to put it back together. pics would help if u can show em. thx

You have to buy some sort of hook tool, i dont remember what it is. and unless your getting a double din sterero, you need a cubby thing to fill the gap. sorry im not very much help.

if you are careful, you can use screw drivers lol
youtube "vw radio removal" or something like that and you'll see what im talking about.

But as cory said, you still need the wrap around thingy. Check out crutchfield.com and see if your new head unit is compatible with your jetta. If not, they will show you what to get.
