I've been told the P2181 code refers to either a cooling system or thermostat replace. I've had the cooling system replace, which after looking at the mechanic replace it, it was a very easy replacement. Since this replacement didn't clear the code, the next attempt is to replace the thermostat.
My question is; is this a replacement that I ( non-mechanic) can do myself of should I let a mechanic replace it?
The P2181 code refers to a cooling system performance issue, most times it could be the thermostat causing the code or possibly the coolant temperature sensor. Does the vehicle get up to temp pretty quickly?
did you mean to say you had the coolant temp sensor replaced? instead of cooling system replace? The next item to look into replacing would be the thermostat if so
